so then with our finals only 2 days away i thought i'd post a little something
here are some of the poems we've done in class and my view and some of dr raihana's on it regarding thematic concern.

"Snake" D.H.Lawrence
theme = nature vs nurture
struggle within (man + himself)

"One Perfect Rose" Dorothy Parker
theme = how one is dissatisfied with cliches and wants something more lasting and substantial in a relationship
gender representation = women deserve better, men think its enough to give women just
flowers

"The Sick Rose" William Blake
theme = vulnerability and innocence of a woman and how she can get tangled up in darker,
sinister events

"The Rose Family" Robert Frost
theme= beauty in the eye of the beholder
different types of beauty to appreciate ( external/internal)

"Telephone Conversation" Wole Soyinka
theme= man + man (conflict)
colour of skin as a mark of one's identity
break stereotypical boundaries of intelligence
racial profiling = reducing the identity of another based on their ethnic group
white supremacy = white people more dominant than other races, eg. Africans

"Stop All The Clocks" W.H. Auden
theme= is love eternal or is it a physical need?

"How Crazy Are Those Who Love You So Much" Kishwar Naheed
theme= in a patriarchal society a woman has no voice and is seen as a mere possesion
feminist criticism = woman objectified due to social injustice
inequality between man and woman due to patriarchal society

ASSIGNMENT 3

hello everybody
told u it wouldnt be the end of this blog
now then in today's class all the groups presented their last assignment
all the posters were really well done
i was really impressed with the mastery of some people's artwork and IT picture editing skills
i do hope to pick up something to help me in my future assignments
i'm having trouble uploading my group's poster so hopefully yvonne will kindly do so

dr raihana also encouraged us to write more on the literature blogs that has been set up whether its this one or the other www.thekuali.blogspot.com
i too feel we should start expressing our thoughts into these outlets because some of us dont voice our thoughts in class so maybe it would be best to voice it out on the blog and be anonymous doing so. not trying to harp on anyone but it would be really good to see both blogs being livened up!!

as this was our last class for CA we were all given the chance to say a few last words ( why does it sound like it was a funeral)
anyways and for no apparent reason i got all choked up and i was completed suprised.
i suppose i've been so overwhelmed with all these feelings of gratitude and awe towards the CA class those feelings sorta ran amok perhaps.

anyways more important final exam is approximately 14 days till the final CA paper
its only split into 2 questions
question 1 = identifying POV and giving examples to justify it
question 2 = critical appraisal on a POEM, discuss the themathic concern
so dr raihana pretty much walked us through it
hope we all dont dissapoint her and ace it with flying colours

The end

ok just chill just because the title says its "the end"
it doesnt mean its the end of me posting here( nope im not going to give you guys the satisfaction lol)
what i mean is the end of the semester is only 5 weeks away.
HALLEJUYAH!!!!!!!
but im honestly going to miss coming to dr raihana's class every tuesday.
for the past 2 weeks we havent had any insighting lectures from her as we've been preparing for our final assignment.
we have to give birth( figuratively lol) to a poster that represents the elements of the short story we're supposed to critically appraise.
so far my group's progress is turning out well.
once its done we're definetely gonna put it up here so we can gloat to the rest of the world how awesome we are ( JUST KIDDING)

i do apologise to my faithful readers (if i have any) that i havent posted in about 2 weeks.
i wasnt sorta stuck coz there's been no lectures on class and my blog posts are usually reports on the lectures
but no fears there's more to come from these fingers.
perhaps this post was kinda pointless so i hope i didnt waste the 40seconds of ur life that u took to read this
